About Validator

What does Validator do?

Validator performs a comparison of a BOM to its associated 036.

Differences are identified and displayed in a table. Optionally, the difference table can be exported to a csv file.

Format of 036 file

The 036 file must be in the MIL-STD-1388-2B 036 file format. All records (except the header record) must be 80 characters. Blank lines will be ignored.

Format of the BOM file

The BOM (Bill of Material) file must be a comma, tab or pipe (|) delimited file.

The following field headers are expected in the first record:
level, part, cage, name, and qty.

or, if no header record is provided, then the fields MUST be in the above order

Lookup Using Nsn if part not found in 036

When a BOM part is not found by part and cage code in the 036, an attempt will be made to lookup the NSN to see if the part/cage combination exists as an alternate.

If no NSN is provided in the 036, the part and cage in the 01A card is used to attempt to lookup the NSN. is a Loch Harbour Group (LHG) website.
